Swedenberg's Guided Bus Tour of Heaven

Public Talk, 1.00 - 2.30 pm, 8 August 2018.

Featured Speaker:Joe Vandermeer
Venue:The Blavatsky Lodge of the Theosophical Society

do you know what to expect in the afterlife and how to prepare for it?

About the Talk

Okay, so the 17th century scientist and spiritual journalist Emmanuel Swedenborg wasn't driven through heaven on a tour bus, but if we imagine that this is how he got shown around, and look at the scenery and explanations he was offered (which are real from his own accounts) then we have a fairly interesting preview of this most fascinating spiritual place. Perhaps if we take note, we might even adjust some of our natural life so that we have a packed suitcase ready for when we get to make such a journey firsthand. Come and enjoy the show.

About the Presenter

Joe Vandermeer has worked in a wide range of professions. As seeker of truth he was taken to Mt Athos, to Rumi's shrine in Konya and to Nepal. He has experienced Tibetan, Vipāssana and Advaita Vedānta practices with many teachers. Inspired by the work of Dr Elizabeth Kübler-Ross and Dr Wilson Van Dusen on near-death experienceds, Joe went on to explore the work of the clairvoyant Emmanuel Swedenborg. A student of Dr Philip Groves, he also studied the teachings of George Ivanovich Gurdjieff and Idries Shah. Since encountering Dutch cardiologist Dr Pim van Lommel's work on near-death experiences, Joe has lectured on the subject of death and dying to various groups around Australia and at the Afterlife Explorers Conference in 2015. Joe is the past president of the Swedenborg Association of Australia.
